Hot passion vivid lessons… Find public education vitality as an innovative school

For a while, school classes in Gyeonggi-do had been stagnant. Teachers' lessons were repeated with the same content over the years, and students struggled with unilateral lectures.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education diagnosed that it was impossible to develop students' creativity in this learning environment, and has been promoting NTTP (New Teacher Training Program) research groups, NTTP training schools, and NTTP learning and practice community projects since 2011.

Teacher training has been active for two years and school classes have changed significantly.

These projects are aimed at strengthening the teaching expertise of teachers, and are introduced by introducing methods such as creative intelligence education, learning-centered classes, and curriculum reconstruction suitable for the new era, and sharing and discussing best practices.

The NTTP Research Society has operated 380 places in 80 provinces and 300 regional units this year. These study groups are organized voluntarily by elementary, middle, and high school teachers, and are supported by the Provincial Office of Education's budget to conduct training in areas such as subject, cross-curricular, and educational policy for one year.

NTTP Training Institute School extends the function of teacher training centers to unit schools, delivering vivid examples of first-line schools and field education experiences to nearby schools and local teachers. Of the prefectural, elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the province, 50 of the final schools selected by examining the operation plan of the applied school will run the training school this year.

The NTTP Learning and Practical Community Project is a program in which more than 70% of teachers per school are trained on the same subject. Currently, 300 preschool, elementary, middle, high school, and special schools are working on school innovation with the support of the provincial office of education.

In addition, the Provincial Office of Education has implemented a teacher research year since 2011, providing hundreds of teachers with an opportunity to conduct autonomous research and training on a specific topic for one year each year, and introduced the subject training year system since last year. Over the years, teachers were given 60 hours of training every 5 years.

Teachers improve the quality of education by sharing various methods of teaching and teaching through new training courses.

#Teachers' think tank, NTTP research group

“I'm going to have fun with the students by integrating the action learning I trained at the NTTP Research Society into the class.”

The summer seminar at the NTTP Gyeonggi-do Elementary School Analysis Education Research Seminar held on June 29th at the Gyeonggi-do Education Research Institute was held with 30 teachers listening, discussing, and studying under the theme of'learning-centered class through action learning'. Action learning is a learning method that works with colleagues to solve problems.

Participating teachers showed great interest in action learning, which could cultivate creativity, the core competency of the future society.

Research member Jin-soon Lee (Seocheoncho, Yongin), Suseok, said, “I realized that action learning is democratic and interesting learning.

This study group holds a professional learning community meeting of researchers once a month to share best practices in class.

Chairman Jang Ok-seon (Director of Curriculum Support, Gyeonggi-do Institute of Education) said, “As the year goes by, teachers are actively participating.” The class analysis and research society helps teachers self-reflect and changes lessons in a variety of ways. In the future, we will create a climate of teacher-centered, autonomous research based on the school site and contribute to school innovation.”

In addition, numerous research societies in Tokyo increase the professionalism of teachers and inspire motivation for school life.

The NTTP Gyeonggi-do Secondary Information Division Education Research Society studies STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics convergence)-based information subject teaching and learning methods for smart education to practice creative intelligence education. In addition, training on smart education and strengthening the exchange and cooperation of information subject teachers through class consulting and seminars.

The NTTP Gyeonggi-do Secondary Family Education Research Group is devoted to research activities on the development and application of descriptive and essay-type evaluation items for the learning-oriented classes of home-school subjects. Until last year, I have been conducting research and training activities on learning-centered classes, and this year, I plan to change the content and method of the class by improving the class evaluation to narration and essay writing.

Professor Lee Kyung-ok (Hwaseong Dongtango), the secretary of the study group, said, “There are about 290 members trying to change their home schooling classes.” The study group provides a variety of information to stimulate students and teachers to have a happy school life. Their satisfaction is high.”

# Teacher's school, training school

NTTP Training School is a project that the provincial office of education is focusing on to share best practices by school. This project creates a teaching and culture of communication and cooperation through sharing and transmission of educational competences between schools, such as enhancing teaching and learning expertise and enhancing work innovation skills through realistic training activities.

Siheung Hamhyeon Middle School has been running a'Happy Textbook' training school since last year, and has gained great popularity among teachers in nearby middle and high schools. With the support of the Seoul National University Happiness Research Center, teachers are trained on programs that can restore students' self-esteem.

Hyeon-joong Ham applies happiness textbooks issued by the Happiness Research Center to various classes to educate students to feel a greater sense of happiness in life.

Teachers participating in the training center train every hour on the afternoons of the first, second, and fourth Wednesdays of each week, and receive the secret of the'Happy Class'.
